The Elevated Roadway is supported on a one Pier in the centre of the median. The piers are founded in hard rock on 1200 mm dia bored-cast –in suit piles. Each module of the Elevated Roadway is 262 meters with span arrangement of 2x29 meters+6x34 meters.

The Superstructure of the Elevated Road is one of the most elegant in the Country, designed to compress construction time, permit full and un interrupted traffic flow, using the Segmented Construction Method. In this method the Elevated Roadway Superstructure units were match pre cast to their final orientation in three independent casting yards simultaneously, transported to the sites at night, hoisted in precise position by an Overhead Gantry, epoxy glued and post tensioned. Separate overhead gantry was deployed in each stretch thereby compressing the construction time. A cycle time of average 4 days per span was attained by fine tuning the activities.

Concurrently, a specialist agency was deployed to construct pedestrian underpasses at four major junctions by the technique of ‘box pushing’ that is pushing the pre cast box unit under the road with high capacity jacks without any disruption of the traffic.

Soon after BETL began work of the Elevated Road, NHAI took up the improvement of At Grade Road up to the Border through another contract.
